Youth consultation

We would like to invite all young people to tell us what they think about our borough.

We would like you to tell us what you think the borough would look like, if it was the ideal place to live.

There are a number of ways you can take part:

  • Young people can also take part in the Your Borough, Your Say survey too.

  • Young people can also take part in one of our competitions Our Borough, Our Future, consisting of two separate competitions for different age ranges, aged 14 and under and age 15 to 21. Details of the competition can be found below:

Aged 14 and under competition

  • There will be prizes for the following age categories : Aged 10 and under and Aged 11– 14.
  • The competition will be judged by the council’s Executive Management Team and the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough.
  • The entries will help to shape the ongoing changes in the council to Build a better Borough.
  • Entries can be sent as part of school projects, youth group activities, friendship groups or even individually.

Aged 14 and under competition brief

Aged 15 to 21 competition

  • There will be prizes for the following age categories : Aged 15 – 17 and Aged 18 – 21.  
  • The competition entries will be shortlisted and then entrants will be invited into the Town Hall, Scarborough, to pitch their idea for a Better Borough directly to the Council’s Executive Management Team and Councillors. The overall winner will be picked during the event and awarded their prize.
  • The entries will help to shape the ongoing changes in the council to Build a better Borough.
  • Entries can be sent as part of school or college projects, youth group activities, friendship groups or even individually.

When considering our future borough, you should select which theme/ themes are the most important to you and explain how you think the council can achieve this. Your entry can be made in any format – videos, artwork, collage, essays etc.

Aged 15 to 21 competition brief

All competition entries need to be sent to consultation@scarborough.gov.uk or by post to Our Borough, Our Future competition, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG by 30 April 2020.
